Following our very successful first event in August 2025, we will be hosting our second Coffee and Chat morning on Tuesday, 17 February 2026, commencing at 10.00am.
This activity provides an opportunity for people to get together to chat about things that interest them, or perhaps to discuss important topics that might affect people in our community.
At our next Coffee and Chat, we will continue with topics that are likely to be important to people in the “Over 50s” demographic.
All will be welcome, whether you are somebody who is experiencing personal problems or, perhaps, dealing with the problems of a friend or loved one.
Our guest speakers will be Kandy Price, who I works as a Clinical Nurse Consultant with Greater Newcastle Dementia Advisory Service with her colleague Nicole who is a Social Worker.
They provide group based and individual support to people living with dementia and their carers. This includes dementia education, symptom and behaviour management, cognitive rehabilitation, and service navigation.
A light morning tea will be provided during the session and a Gold Coin donation would be appreciated on the day.
Please come along and invite others who might be interested in joining us to discuss this important topic.
Where: Port Stephens Uniting Church Activities Centre - 174 Salamander Way, Salamander Bay NSW.
When: Tuesday 10.00am, 17 February 2026.

Our first “Coffee and Chat” was held on Wednesday, 27th August, 2025. It was a very successful event at which we welcomed 70 people.
We hope that these events will become regular features of our church calendar, perhaps occurring every second month and that they will allow us to foster strong relationships between our church and our community.
They will provide an opportunity for people to come together in an informal setting, to chat about topics that are important and of interest to the “Over 55s” in our community.
Last Wednesday’s “Coffee and Chat” dealt with the challenges associated with ageing and disability – whether from the point of view of individuals or from that of people who may be responsible for caring for ageing family or community members.
We were very fortunate to have Meagan Harding as our guest speaker. Meagan is a Registered Nurse with extensive experience in the aged care sector.
For 22 years, she was the owner and Director of a highly successful Disability and Home Care service in Port Stephens and now owns the only Dementia and Memory Loss Specific Activity Centre in the area.
A representative of Ansteys Medical Supply store was in attendance with a display of disability aids that might provide ideas to help with the support that ageing people might need.
Overall, the Futures Group and our church members were very happy with the success of our first “Coffee and Chat” event.
We hope to follow up with another topic that links well with this one.
